Overview

A designated National Historic Site, the Fort Point Museum is a heritage park situated at the mouth of the LaHave River, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The views are as picturesque as when Champlain discovered the area in 1604.

Community museum interprets unique local history, from the native Mi’kmaq culture to French and early European settlers, lighthouse heritage, and the shipping and fishing industries of the area. It also celebrates the origin of the site, named « Fort Sainte Marie de Grace » in 1632 when it was the first capital of New France.
