Orchard Point

On a bold Atlantic headland uniquely surrounded by a magnificent mile-long off-shore reef, Orchard Point is an unparalleled oceanfront paradise of serenity and seclusion. Watch the sunrise over the ocean, borrow the cottage canoe and explore the bay, relax to the sound of the surf. 

Orchard Point is located in Jordan Bay just six miles east of the historic port town of Shelburne.  It’s close enough to town for shopping, restaurants, and visits to the museums, theater and festival venues; but far enough away to guarantee seclusion.  The Sandy Point Lighthouse beach is the nearest beach.  Other beaches in the area to explore include Carleton Village and Roseway.  A little further afield are Kejimkujik Seaside Adjunct and Louis Head Beach.  Lunenburg, Mahone Bay, Chester, Pubnico and Yarmouth are all within easy day tripping distance.

Orchard Point is a 19th Century Sea Captain’s haven that has been lovingly renovated and restored.  The design tastefully blends old and new architectural elements, art and furnishings to create an environment rich in character, charm, texture, and comfort.  The ground floor has a fully equipped kitchen with custom soapstone countertops and a breakfast dinette and a more formal dining room for entertaining.  The living room is comfortably furnished with cozy couches and a flat screen TV for movie watching.  

Orchard Point sleeps 4 people in 2 bedrooms. Both bedrooms are beautifully appointed and have ocean views. There is a queen size bed in the master bedroom and a double bed in guest room. There are two bathrooms and a washer and dryer.  The upper level bathroom has a claw foot tub, while the ground floor bathroom has a stone and tile walk-in shower.  

All bed linens and towels are provided.   Orchard Point has TV for watching movies only – there is no satellite TV service.  The cottage does have internet access.  The cottage is not pet friendly.

Outside, a long shoreward meadow slopes gently down to the shoreline.   

Safety:

For the protection of our guests we are leaving a full day between guests in order for our cleaning staff to completely clean and sanitize the space.  Covid-19 cleaning, health and safety protocols are followed.

5 to 7 days

Payment Options:

Deposit required at time of booking.  Email Transfer is the preferred method of payment.  Visa, MasterCard, or personal cheque in Canadian Dollars also accepted.  

Cancellation Policy:  

50% refund for cancellations made at least 60 days before check-in. 25% refund for cancellation made between 30 and 60 days prior to check-in.  No refunds for cancellations made within 30 days of check-in.
