Mumler\, a 19th-century spirit photographer whose images claimed to reveal the faces of the dead. \nStep into William H. Mumler’s mysterious New York photography studio\, circa 1869—a place where the living and the dead share the same frame. Watch\, spellbound as the play unfolds during a time when belief in contact with the dead swept through parlors and séances across the nation. \nThe play title refers to a tenet of the mid-19th century Spiritualist movement. It held that there were multiple levels of the afterlife. For the pure of heart\, the first stop after death would be a paradise-like realm called Summerland. \nMumler claims to capture what others only dream of seeing: the ghostly return of departed loved ones\, shimmering through the photographic glass. His “spirit portraits” electrify believers and anger skeptics\, until one powerful man—the steely Chief Marshal Joseph Tooker—sets out to expose him as a charlatan. \nJoseph Tooker investigates Mumler’s shady past and his process\, for suspected fraud\, uncovering much more than he bargained for in his search for truth. When the inspector’s own photographic sitting takes an unexpected turn\, truth and illusion come into question and the line between skepticism and belief blurs — challenging both men’s convictions about what lies beyond the veil. \nSummerland is about the collision between the two men’s opposing beliefs about the afterlife. Is it a hoax\, or is it real? Finding the answer to either question threatens to destroy them both. Halifax is the hub of the Maritimes and we think it’s the perfect backdrop for Atlantic Canada’s biggest sci-fi\, fantasy and gaming convention. \nOriginally showcasing comic books\, games\, science fiction/fantasy and film/television\, and related popular arts. It has grown to encompasses the full-spectrum of geekdom\, including Comic Books\, Science Fiction\, Fantasy\, Gaming\, Cyberpunk\, Steampunk\, Renaissance\, Anime\, and anything else of the fantastical while still having enough appeal for even the most casual fan. DESCRIPTION:Gran Fondo Baie Sainte-Marie\, Nova Scotia’s largest cycling event\, returns September 13-14\, 2025 and welcomes recreational cyclists\, those who like to tour by bike\, and avid racers for an epic coastal ride! \nOffered every second year\, this event has quickly grown to the largest cycling event in Atlantic Canada\, with over 650 cyclists participating in 2023 including many participants from outside of Nova Scotia. Our Gran Fondo is perfect for recreational cyclists\, coastal sight seeing riders\, and avid races! Although a timed event we welcome those looking for a self-paced\, fun group event\, rather than a race. \nGran Fondo Baie Sainte-Marie offers five rides ranging from 35 km to 161 km. Riders will explore rolling inland roads along lakes and rivers\, pass by the stunning architecture of wooden churches\, and along the panoramic coastal route that hugs beautiful Baie Sainte Marie. Experienced riders can challenged themselves with the 161 km ‘Super Gran‘\, 118 km ‘Gran‘ or the 89 km ‘Mezzo‘ routes while novice cyclists may prefer the our 67 km ‘Medio‘ or 35 km ‘Piccolo‘ routes.
